Adrienne Gonzalez

Adrienne Gonzalez, of MyDeejay's Executive Team

In her role as General Manager of MyDeejay, Adrienne manages all of our online marketing, our blog, and our social media presence.  She’s also the friendly voice on the phone when you call MyDeejay, and assists clients with their online planning.

Birthplace/Hometown:  Milwaukee, WI

Current Residence:  Washington, DC

College attended:  University of Wisconsin - Madison

Field of study:  Undecided; I left school to travel instead!

When I'm not managing MyDeejay’s online marketing and social media, I can be found:  Writing about finance and economics, giving career advice to young accountants, reading up on monetary policy, and working on my book.

My other interests:  Playing with my cats, thrifting, washing my car, and continuously improving my already awesome condo.

Favorite music artists:  Filthy Dukes, Gaby Kerpel, IAMX, Merle Haggard, The Knife, Aterciopelados, MEN, The XX, Piano Magic, Doctor P, Moloko, Q and Not U, The Hood Internet, anything off Blalock’s Indie Rock Playlist.

First dance songs I'm enjoying now:  “Somehow” (Citizen Cope), “Somewhere at Sea” (Filthy Dukes), “I Don’t Want to Set the World On Fire” (The Ink Spots), “Alone” (The Twilight Hours), “Todo Cambio” (Camila).

Causes/organizations I support:  Washington Humane Society, Disabled American Veterans, So Others May Eat, AIDS Walk San Francisco.

A quote I live by:  “It is better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you are not.”

Best advice I ever received:  My grandma always told me to save at least half of each paycheck, even before I started working at age 14.  I haven’t done that (sorry, Grandma!) but it was still great advice!

Seven words that describe me:  Tenacious, hilarious, weird, exuberant, mischievous, squishy, over-caffeinated.

Five prized possessions I couldn’t live without:  My Beaver Phur Lovesac Sactional (the greatest couch your butt has ever known), a ring my grandmother gave me set with diamonds from her wedding ring, my BlackBerry (like air, I cannot survive three minutes without it), my PlayStation 3, and a huge box stuffed with plane tickets and love letters my boyfriend sent me when we lived across the country from each other.

Something no one would guess by looking at me:  I’ve been through the secret tunnel that connects the House and Senate buildings, while on a reporting mission once.

On working for the greatest wedding DJ company on earth:  “I have always loved music and writing since I was little, so it’s great that as an adult I get to take those two loves and create unique content for readers of our blog.  As a definitively Type-A personality who is passionate about just about everything I get my hands on, it’s awesome to work with a group of people equally passionate about the service we provide to our clients.  As a bonus, not a day goes by that we don’t laugh hysterically at one thing or another in the office.  I sort of fell into the wedding business by accident, but now that I’m here, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”
