5-17-2009 – Congratulations to Tiffany and John!

May 28th, 2009 No comments

John and Tiffany got married at Ceresville Mansion in Frederick, MD on Sunday the 17th and it was fantastic!  I did their ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception music and everyone had a lot of fun.  The ceremony was beautiful, and Tiffany and John were just great to work with.  The ceremony music was great – they picked out a bunch of string quartet covers of indie and alternative rock songs by the Vitamin Strings Quartet.  If you are looking for something traditional and non-traditional for your ceremony, go on iTunes and check them out – they have a TON of songs.

After cocktail hour, they did a handful of very sweet and sentimental toasts and then the dancing began!  There was so much action on the dancefloor that the temperature in Ceresville probably shot up 20 degrees.  Despite the heat, everyone danced and had a great time.  Their first dance was to "Magic" by Colbie Calliat, and the overall mix of music was everything from indie rock to hip hop.  I had a lot of fun mixing this one up!

I also got to work with one of my old pals, photographer Jen Lowe, and we had a blast.  She’s very easygoing and we worked great together.  Here are some pictures from Jen Lowe’s blog - thanks, Jen!

5-17-2009 – Congratulations to Mary and Alex!

Alex’s and Mary’s wedding at Argyle Country Club in Silver Spring, Maryland, was highlighted by lots of dancing.  The couple kicked things off with a first dance to the classic "At Last" by Etta James, and later everyone enjoyed a mix of mostly Motown, 60s, 70s and 80s music.  One of their guests did an awesome solo dance routine to Michael Jackson’s "Billie Jean," and two other guests later did a Blues Brothers number, complete with shades!

I really enjoyed working with Alex and Mary and wish them all the best!

5-17-2009 – Congratulations Stacy and John!

The fun and unique blend of music is probably what I will remember most about Stacy’s and John’s wedding.  The couple chose an eclectic mix for their cocktail reception and dinner, including Spam Allstars and Thievery Corporation, and the variety really made my job as a DJ a lot of fun!  They later had their first dance to Van Morrison’s "Moondance" and then lots of Latin music for dancing for the rest of the evening.

As always, the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club provided a spectacular atmosphere, and Erin Janes and her catering staff were a pleasure to work with.  Thanks so much to Stacy and John for having me as their DJ!

5-16-2009 – Congratulations Stephanie and Mike!

Stephanie’s and Mike’s wedding was held in a private hall and was a celebration of family and friends from far and wide.  Everyone seemed to have a blast dancing to a mix of all kinds of music, everything from oldies to country to the newest hip hop.  The dance floor was always packed!

Probably the most memorable moment of the evening was Stephanie’s and Mike’s first dance to Clint Black’s "When I Said I Do."  The song was sung as a duet by the bride’s uncle Chuck and aunt Stephanie, and definitely made it all the more personal.  Thanks Stephanie and Mike!

5-16-2009 – Congratulations So and Jeff!

Held at Celebrations at the Bay in Pasadena, Maryland, So’s and Jeff’s wedding was a lot of fun and very personal for the couple, which is always great to see.  The couple had a beautiful ceremony on the deck outside, during which the maid of honor sang an a cappella version of Whitney Houston’s "I Believe In You and Me" — it was truly a stunning performance and much appreciated by So and Jeff, I know!

The couple’s first dance was "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, and the reception featured countless funny moments.  The bride’s brother delivered an incredibly hilarious speech, and at one point the couple had me play "The Pittsburgh Steelers Polka" and practically everyone sang along.  I worked with a great team of vendors on this event, including Laura Olson of In His Grace Photography and Dave Morley of Open Eye Media.  Thanks to So and Jeff and best wishes!

5-16-2009 – Congratulations to Gretchen and Matt!

Gretchen and Matt had an amazing wedding at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club on May 16th.  The weather held out just long enough for a beautiful ceremony on the rooftop deck of the Garden Room, adjacent to the Sunset Ballroom.  If you haven’t seen this place yet, you should go – it’s amazing.  This is the newest addition to the property and the view is stunning.

I have to say that this is one of the best overall vendor teams I’ve worked with – everyone knew each other!  Their planner was the fabulous Raquel Shutt from WeddingSavvy, the photographers were Amy Raab and David Spence (thanks for the pictures, by the way!), cake courtesy of Fiona Brown from Fiona’s Cakes, Teresa Hunter headed up everything for CBBC, and their ceremony music was by Bay Strings headed by Sally Stallings.  Even though there was a lot going on, everyone worked perfectly together and it totally paid off.

The setup for this one was pretty complicated because they wanted to have dancing in the Garden Room where the bar is.  So, I had to break out our wireless speaker system to tie the ballroom and the Garden Room together.  After some great toasts and food, everyone watched Matt and Gretchen share their first dance to "L-O-V-E" by Nat King Cole – a classic.

Everyone had a great time dancing and chatting and drinking (CBBC’s bartenders are great :) , and the rain even held off long enough for everyone to leave and for me to load out.  It was a fantastic wedding, thanks for having me!

Here are some awesome pictures, gratuitously lifted from Amy Raab’s blog:

5-16-2009 – Congratulations Jane and Christophe!

May 28th, 2009 No comments

Jane’s and Christophe’s wedding at Manor Country Club was a wonderful mix of sweet, sentimental and humorous, and was really a joy to be part of.  The rain may have forced their ceremony inside, but it was no less enjoyable as Jane and Christophe exchanged vows that were unique, personal, touching and funny.  The couple then danced to "Lucky" by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat.  After an exhausting evening of dancing with their guests, Jane and Christophe ended the night by sitting right on the floor to snuggle, exhausted from the night’s events.

This was an amazing celebration and I know it will be a great memory not only for Jane and Christophe, but for all their guests and myself as well.  Thanks for including me!

5-16-2009 – Congratulations to Christina and Robert!

May 28th, 2009 No comments

The guests at Christina’s and Robert’s wedding were treated to the beautiful scenery of the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay, featuring views of the lower Bay during the ceremony and through a wall of windows at the cocktail reception.  I had a fantastic time working with Kate Hopkins at the Hyatt as well as photographer Mark Gardner, and most especially with Christina, Robert and their families and friends!

Christina and Robert’s romantic first dance song was Ronan Keating’s "When You Say Nothing at All."  Everyone later had a great time dancing to a mix of Motown, disco and 80s hits early in the evening, and more contemporary hits later on.  Everyone enjoyed a laugh when the couple used Adam Sandler’s "I Want to Grow Old With You," from The Wedding Singer, as their cake-cutting song.  All in all, it was a very fun wedding, and I was glad to be part of it!

5-15-2009 – Congratulations to Bethany and Chris!

May 28th, 2009 No comments

I did the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception music for Bethany and Chris on Friday, 5/15/09 and it was wonderful!  They were very nice, down-to-earth, and had fabulous music.  Everything was held at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club, one of our favorite places to work, in the Tavern Ballroom.  They had great weather for the ceremony, their readings were really cute.

After the ceremony, they changed into traditional Korean dress (Chris’ family is Korean) and performed a tea ceremony with their families.  This is a very neat tradition, and I played some cool Korean gayageum music in the background while they did it.

After some heartfelt toasts and a great dinner courtesy of Teresa Hunter and the CBBC staff, everyone had a great time dancing, drinking, and catching up with old friends.  Bethany and Chris get major kudos from me on their music choices – everything from classic rock to indie and a little punk thrown in there.  The first dance was the Iron and Wine cover of “Such Great Heights,” from the Garden State soundtrack – probably the best soundtrack in the last 15 years!
