7-5-2009 – Congratulations to Jennifer and Andrew!

I had a fantastic time playing for Jennifer and Andrew’s reception at the historic Elkridge Furnace Inn in Elkridge, Maryland this past Sunday.  EFI is a great venue for a wedding reception, with the ability to host cocktail hour inside the historic main building and dinner and dancing under the large permanent tent beside it.  The food is always great, and Becky the banquet manager is always a pleasure to work with.

I knew this wedding was going to be great before I even showed up – Jennifer and Andrew had asked for a mix of latin jazz for cocktail hour, mellow reggae and calypso for dinner, and soul, disco, funk, reggae, and current pop for dancing.  Despite being a relatively small gathering (around 80 people), I had practically everyone on the dancefloor almost immediately.  I was excited to work with some great classic reggae that I don’t get to play very often – Chaka Demus, Buju Banton, Capleton, Beenie Man – it was awesome…  A large portion of their families and guests were of Jamaican descent, and were really into it too!

Best of all, Jennifer and Andrew were really sweet to work with.  Plus, they hired the fabulous Michael Clark as their photographer, so we had a great time hanging out and catching up.  Jennifer and Andrew, thanks for having me as a part of your special day!
