I agree with some of the things you mentioned in the article, but not all. Creating a professional look is not difficult with the right equipment, just like doing a professional job is not difficult with the right tools. You may not want your mechanic to fix your dishwasher, but you would want your mechanic to fix a dent if he had the proper tools. People have so many choices these days that helping them with like items is extremely important in not only furthering your craft, but also making your business more reputable.

Excellent article. As a wedding and event planner I am always seeking more information to share with clients or potential clients concerning what are the benefits of hiring a planner/coordinator. Many people don’t understand how stressful it can be to plan your own entire wedding or event. Also, it is so important to actually be able to enjoy your special day (without having to worry about every last detail). So again, thank you so much for the article.

I agree with all the tips except listing your vendors. I think this is tacky. I think it takes away from the real meaning of the wedding and focuses too much on the “business” side of the event. Also, the guests don’t need to know how you pulled off this fabulous celebration.

A friend of mine said something pretty wise while I was planning my bar package: F&B is one of the few things your guests care about. The dress, photography, theme colors, invitations, etc. pretty much just matter to the couple; hospitality isn’t something to skimp on.

I love this post. I am an artist and crafter at heart, and now that I am planning my wedding, I want to add my own touches. But I also realize that I need the help of professionals for much of my wedding. I look forward to the help! My family is not a family of cooks, so catering, here we come. And there would be no way I would trust anyone but a professional for the photos of the most important day of my life. I think you make a valid point that although the wedding industry may be huge, the companies within are fairly small and local.
