Our Pricing
It's important to look carefully at the way we structure our pricing, because MyDeejay's pricing system is different than that of every other DJ company in the area. Our wedding rates are completely standardized and are based solely on the month the wedding will occur. This "Fair Pricing Promise" is part of our commitment to professional integrity and to making as much information available to you as possible. Our pricing is not a secret because it is not subjective -- we do not engage in "price gouging" our customers based on what we think they are willing (or able) to pay.
Our wedding rates include the following:
- ALL of the music for the evening, including ceremony and cocktails upon request (up to six full hours of performance time).
- ALL of the equipment needed for your event, including additional sound systems, additional speakers, wireless microphones, subwoofer, and wireless speakers if needed.
- Setup time, breakdown time, travel within a 90-mile radius (one way) from our headquarters in Columbia, MD, and any applicable tax.
- Online access to our music database and convenient web-based planning system.
- Planning assistance and unlimited contact with the specific DJ you're guaranteed to have on your wedding day.
- The peace of mind that comes with the industry's most comprehensive emergency backup plan.
Will you match the price offered by another DJ company?
This has become a common question in the last year or two, as more and more struggling DJ companies scramble to keep from going bankrupt. The short answer to this question is no, and here’s why: Only companies who are in deep financial trouble are going to offer to “price match” a competitor. If a DJ company (or any company, for that matter) is desperate enough to reduce their price in order to make a sale, what does that say about their financial stability? It’s only natural for some businesses to succeed and for some to fail – those that fail always do so for a reason, be it poor management or a poor reputation.
Our best advice is that engaged couples should think twice when any kind of excessive discount or “price matching” is offered by a company – this is typically a red flag that something is wrong. For further reading on the subject, see our DJ SHOPPING GUIDE, as well as our post on WeddingAces on "Wedding Price Wars" and the accompanying thoughts on our blog from last year.
We realize that our set pricing may put us out of the running in some cases, but we hope that most couples will give us the opportunity to meet with them and demonstrate the true value of the service, reliability, and professionalism we provide. There is a big difference in terms of what we expect from ourselves, and what we offer to our clients!
Do you offer different skill levels or "tiers" of DJs at different price points?
Absolutely not. The way we see it, a DJ either meets our company’s high standards or they do not – if they don't, they aren't qualified to represent our company. We would never offer a couple a "MyDeejay experience" and then send them less than the very best our company has to offer. We are able to recruit and retain the top talent in the area, and each of our performers shares our company philosophy and delivers on our company's promises for each of their clients. Offering multiple “tiers” of talent at different prices would mean sacrificing quality for the sake of more bookings – something we would never be willing to do.
There are several comapanies in the area that do operate using that type of system, so it's important to educate yourself on the things to avoid when selecting a wedding DJ.
Do you offer any additional discounts or promotions?
We offer a standard 10% discount to any client who opts to pay in full with their signed contract, and who books at least four (4) months prior to their event. This has been available since MyDeejay was founded in 2002. Other than the 10% prepayment discount, we do not offer any specials, sales, coupons or promotions. We believe it's important, ethically speaking, that all of our clients be presented with the same pricing structure as everyone else who has hired us.
Do you charge less for daytime weddings, or for weddings that need less than six hours of music?
Our rates are the same whether it's a daytime or evening wedding, for the simple reason that each of our DJs perform only one event per day. We believe that you deserve to have your DJ’s undivided attention on your wedding day, and we wouldn’t take the chance of a mistake being made simply to increase our income. You can be confident that our DJs will invest just as much time, energy, and music preparation for your wedding, regardless of the time of day it takes place.
Regarding weddings shorter than six hours: we consider our rate to be the set price for a given wedding date, as opposed to an “hourly rate” times six hours. When we set our rates, we did some research and found that including six hours would cover more than 95% of the weddings we perform, so that became our standard package with additional time available at a lower hourly rate. You have your DJ's undivided attention for up to six hours of performance time, and can use his services for as much or as little of that time as is appropriate for your event, but we are unable to pro-rate our prices for shorter events.
Please feel free to contact us now with any questions on our pricing, policies, or the services we offer. We look forward to serving you!
